ALLAH's Vicegerent

The Urdu word "Naib" (نائب) generally translates to:

• Deputy
• Representative
• Vicegerent
• Lieutenant (older/formal usage)
• Steward (in some religious contexts)
• Vicegerent of God (often used for the Qur'anic concept of Khalifah)
• God's representative on Earth (interpretive translation)
• Steward of God's creation

However, in mainstream Islamic theology, Muslims would usually use "Khalifah" (Caliph/Vicegerent) rather than "Naib Allah." The phrase "Vicegerent of God" is probably the closest formal English equivalent.
